ROGERS, Ark. — Park rangers are patrolling Beaver Lake this Labor Day weekend to make sure visitors stay safe and follow the rules.

Rangers Emily Phillips and Hayden Rogers are among those conducting safety checks on the water.

"Today we're doing safety checks with the vessels that are out on the water," Phillips said. "That pretty much entails pulling up to people and having them show me a life jacket for each person on board, making sure that all the kids under the age of 14 have their life jackets on, as well as checking for the throwable devices on their vessels."

Phillips said wearing a life jacket is one of the most important precautions.

"Statistically, life jackets do save lives, so that's the number one thing we always tell people to bring when they come out," she said.
