JASPER COUNTY, Texas — A Lumberton man was arrested Sunday evening after deputies say he assaulted a woman, injured a 3-month-old child and threatened violence with a shotgun in north Jasper County.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 6:55 p.m. August 31 to County Road 222 in the “Tiger Creek” community for a report of a man assaulting a woman and making threats with a firearm.
When deputies arrived, the man had fled into nearby woods. Investigators discovered that both the victim and her infant had visible injuries.
The suspect was later identified as Remington Boykin, 26, of Lumberton. Deputies said Boykin assaulted the victim and, during the incident, recklessly injured the child. He also allegedly displayed a shotgun while threatening to kill the
