MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia Lottery says someone purchased a $50,000 Powerball ticket in Morgantown Saturday.

The ticket, which was bought at the Cheat Lake Price Cutter on Venture Drive, hit four of the five Powerball numbers at the Powerball.

No one hit all five numbers and the Powerball, which means the jackpot for Monday night’s drawing has grown to $1.1 billion.

“This jackpot is the fifth largest in the history of the game,” West Virginia Lottery Acting Director David Bradley said. “What an exciting time for players. We had a player win $50,000 (Saturday) night, so everyone needs to check their tickets. There are nine ways to win in this game- so we want to encourage everyone to be aware of those tiers, and of course, to play responsibly.”
