LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- After a year of bevy construction, Lakewood High School has finally finished adding new learning spaces at the Franklin Boulevard building.

A special grand-opening event with tours is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sept. 9 to celebrate West Shore Career-Tech’s new MEMS (micro-electronic mechanical systems) and welding learning spaces, as well as the relocation of the Franklin School of Opportunity to Lakewood High School.

“We’re just trying to advance the work in the career opportunities for our students in Lakewood and then also our West Shore partners,” Lakewood City Schools Superintendent Maggie Niedzwiecki said.

“Doing research on the job market, that’s what really allowed us to look into writing grants for welding and the MEMS.”
