A war veteran who thought he'd never survive the D-Day landings has made a special visit to his regimental museum in Hamilton.
Don Turrell met up with fellow Cameronians at Low Parks Museum just weeks after his 100th birthday. The WW2 veteran was only 17 when he found his way onto a ship heading for the Normandy landings after lying about his age.
The Londoner had initially been assigned to the Northamptonshire Regiment, but shortly after training was told that he would be joining the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) instead after they suffered heavy losses, reports Lanarkshire Live.
