FRANKENMUTH, MI — The Frankenmuth Dog Bowl, recognized as the world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs, has donated $5,000 to the Frankenmuth Friends of Police.
The check presentation took place during the Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival in August at the Frankenmuth River Place Shops. Frankenmuth Police Chief Don Mawer accepted the donation on behalf of the Frankenmuth Friends of Police, an organization that helps fund safety and equipment needs beyond the department’s regular budget.
“This gift is a reflection of our mission at Dog Bowl — to celebrate the joy and loyalty of dogs while giving back to the community we call home,” Michael Keller Zehnder, who serves as both president of the Bavarian Inn Lodge and chairman of the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl, said in a statement.
