LINCOLN, Neb. —

A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Lincoln on Sunday, police said.

The crash occurred early Sunday morning near South 27th Street and Barnard Road.

Investigators said the 37-year-old was running southbound on 27th Street when a southbound vehicle hit the runner from behind.

The pedestrian had life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where they later died, Lincoln police said.

Investigators said no impairment of the driver is suspected at this time and no citations have been issued.

The crash is still under investigation.
