A 79-year-old woman has been robbed on a busy street in Deans.

The West Lothian pensioner reported the incident to police at 8.40am on Monday September 1 from Main Street.

It is understood a young male approached the elderly woman and robbed her, stealing cash during the terrifying ordeal.

Detectives have described the man as being white, in his early 20s, short and of a slim build. He was wearing a light-coloured jacket with the hood up, a black face covering, dark trousers and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gilhooley said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am now appealing for the assistance of the public.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist us to get in touch.
