COLUMBUS, Ohio — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash involving two vehicles in east Columbus Monday morning.

The crash happened in the 1800 block of East Livingston Avenue around 11:50 a.m., according to a public safety dispatcher for Columbus.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling west on Livingston Avenue at Rhoads Avenue at the same time as a Volkswagen Passat. The Volkswagen attempted a turn into a private drive, causing it to collide with the motorcycle.

Police said the motorcyclist, identified as 55-year-old Mitchell Jacobs, was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 12:16 p.m.

The dispatcher added that the driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and was not injured.
