COLUMBUS, Ohio — Labor Day brought familiar traditions to communities across central Ohio Monday, with artists and workers alike marking the holiday through longstanding celebrations.
At the 59th annual Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, Ed Kitchen, of Eastmoor, took home first place, capping off more than four decades of participation.
"I was totally shocked. We've done this show for over 40 years and never received any kind of recognition," Kitchen said.
The festival draws artists from near and far who return year after year for the community atmosphere and appreciation for their work.
"The people appreciate the work here, they appreciate art, artists and what we do and it's always a good turnout," said Deborah Link, of Galena.
