LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule announced Monday morning that senior wide receiver Janiran Bonner has torn his ACL.

Rhule made this announcement at a media session ahead of the team’s home opener Saturday against Akron.

He said Bonner is out for the season after suffering an ACL tear at last week’s game against Cincinnati.

Rhule also said the team is excited to be coming off a season-opening win, but he thought there are several areas where they can grow, such as with their rushing defense.

Kick off for the Huskers’ home-opener is Saturday at 6:30 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium. It will be the first time Akron has been to Lincoln since 2018 when their game was cancelled due to weather.
