An 81-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was crossing Southeast Marine Drive in Vancouver early Monday morning.
According to Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin, the man was crossing near the intersection at Borden Street around 4:30 a.m. when he was hit by a westbound Audi Q3 .
“Despite life-saving attempts by first responders, the man died at the scene,” she said.
The driver of the Audi remained at the scene. Speed or impairment are not considered to be contributing factors to the collision.
Last month, a 55-year-old man died after being struck by a Blacktop taxi at the intersection of Smithe and Cambie Street in Vancouver just after 10 p.m.
