Syracuse, N.Y. -- Demetres Samuel Jr. won’t be the only two-way player for Syracuse football this season.
He wasn’t even the first.
Jamie Tremble, a tight end and the highest-ranked recruit in Syracuse’s Class of 2024, opened the season as SU’s starting strong-side linebacker.
Tremble made his two-way debut on Saturday against Tennessee, making one reception for one yard and playing 18 snaps on defense.
“A couple different drills that he’d done showed me he could do it,” Syracuse coach Fran Brown said on Monday. “He has the mental capacity for learning both sides. You’ll see a couple of other dudes going both sides of the ball this week also.”
