ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - A 12-year-old was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after being injured in a Sea-Doo accident on Lake Martin, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
ALEA Captain Jeremy Burkett said the incident happened in Little Kowaliga Creek near Wake Robbin Road, which has a causeway that extends into the lake.
The child was towing another 12-year-old on a knee board when the accident happened.
According to ALEA, the Sea-Doo struck the causeway, throwing the child onto the road. They were airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.
The child being towed on the knee board let go of the rope prior to the impact and was not injured, ALEA said.
No additional details have been released. An investigation is now underway.
