BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The United Mine Workers of America marking the holiday by gathering for a picnic in Boone County, WV.

The UMWA said that Labor Day is a time to honor the sacrifice that workers make both physically and mentally in keeping our country running.

It’s also a day to celebrates workers’ achievements in securing fair wages and good working conditions.
