The real story behind M*A*S*H

BREMEN -- Long before M*A*S*H was a hit TV show or movie, it was a book written by Richard Hooker. Hooker was the pseudonym for Doctor Richard Hornberger who summered in Maine and eventually put roots down in Bremen. We recently met up with his son to learn more about the author and his connection to Maine.

"When the movie came out, this is what they used as the movie poster," explained Will Hornberger.

Doctor R ichard H ornberger , also known as author R ichard Hooker, was a Bowdoin College graduate who served in the K orean War as a military surgeon. But to Will H ornberger , he was simply known as dad.

"He really wanted to be a sports writer. In fact, at Bowdoin College he was editor of the school newspaper, the student newspaper," Will explained.
