PITTSFIELD -- A new nonprofit is working to bring back a beloved staple in the Pittsfield community.

For decades, the Bijou Theatre in Pittsfield brought movies, live entertainment and more to the community and surrounding towns.

However, the municipally owned theater did not re-open after closing during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving a major hole in the arts community.

Now a nonprofit called the Bijou Theatre and Enrichment Center is on a mission to restore the historic building and end this long intermission.
