The Surrey Police Service (SPS) wants to remind commuters to drive carefully when school resumes on Tuesday, September 2.
Sgt. Tige Pollock from the SPS says that drivers should plan for longer commutes.
“We would like to remind people to give themselves more time for the commute. With the busier roads, there will be more traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians when classes resume.”
Police are also calling on students to be careful, reminding students to be aware of their surroundings and to avoid using headphones or earbuds when crossing the street.
“Students in particular should practice pedestrian and school safety. It’s important for them to be aware of their surroundings and to avoid using headphones or earbuds or looking at their smartphone while crossing the street,” Pollock explaine
