HARMARVILLE, Pa. —

One person was taken to the hospital after a large boat caught fire along the Allegheny River Monday afternoon.

Viewer video shared to Pittsburgh's Action News 4 by Mark Gatto showed the boat completely engulfed by flames and thick black smoke. Advertisement

The boat caught fire on the water near the Allegheny River Turnpike Bridge, which carries Interstate 76, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, from Harmar Township’s Harmarville neighborhood across the Allegheny River and into Oakmont.

Allegheny County dispatch told Action News 4 that one person was taken to the hospital from the scene. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.

We're told by officials the incident occurred just before 3 p.m.
