LAKE DELTON, Wis. (WKOW) -- While Labor Day is a celebration that honors all workers across the country, one EMS worker in Lake Delton is getting extra recognition for the work he does and the lives he saved.
Brandon Frederick is the deputy chief of the Dells-Delton EMS Service. Back in November, Frederick and his EMS team were driving down the icy roads of Interstate 90 in Wisconsin Dells to respond to a crash on the side of the road.
Frederick quickly recognized that his crew was in a dangerous spot due to extremely icy and slippery conditions.
He alerted the ambulance with him to move out of the way and get to a safer spot on the road.
When he went to move his own vehicle, he was too late and was hit by a fast moving semitractor-trailer.
