NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Powerball players in New Bern showed up in droves to take a crack at Monday’s jackpot prize of $1.1 billion.

With no winner from Saturday’s drawing and no one matching all six numbers since May 31st, Monday’s drawing is the fifth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.

Customers flocked to stores, like Super Stop gas station, hoping to beat the 1 in 292.2 million odds.

For Super Stop employee Shirley Berry, she’s dreaming big and joining in on the rush, buying two tickets for herself.

Berry plans on buying a new home if her numbers hit, and she’s not alone in fantasizing about life after a billion-dollar win.

“Well, I’ll stop working for one. I might come in and help a little bit every now and then. But yeah, finish taking care of my husband,” Berry said.
