KUNIA, Hawaii (Island News) – Firefighters fully contained the brush fire along Kunia Road on Monday nearly a week after the blaze started.
An evacuation order was issued Tuesday, Aug. 19 for a brush fire on Kunia Road has been lifted. The evacuation was lifted later that afternoon for the affected areas including the Kunia Camp, Kunia Headstart School at Kunia Drive and Kunia Road.
The evacuation was lifted at 5:45 p.m. and the fire was 60% contained as of 6:37 p.m. The fire burned 600 acres.
The fire was 70% contained at 7:29 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Fire operations continued on Thursday, Aug. 21; firefighters contained the fire at 75% before pausing their efforts for the evening.
Firefighters contained the brush fire at 100% on Monday evening, Aug. 25. Helicopters dropped water
