DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A man has died after becoming trapped underneath his lawn mower in Darke County Monday.

According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, deputies and medics were sent to the intersection of Coletown-Lightsville Road and Zumbrum Road just before 1 p.m. on Sept 1.

First responders were called after a man became trapped underneath his Toro lawn mower.

Officials say he was was mowing a steep side ditch when the mower lost traction and began sliding. The mower overturned and trapped the man in the ditch.

It is unknown how long the man was trapped prior to him being located. Officials say he succumbed to his injuries from the accident.

The sheriff's office identified the man as 67-year-old Michael Roth of Union City.
