PITTSBURGH —
Gov. Josh Shapiro and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis joined union workers again for Pittsburgh's annual Labor Day parade Monday.
The two touched on the impact of union labor, the recent unionization of nurses at Magee-Womens Hospital , and where things stand in getting a state budget passed. Advertisement
The parade kicked off with a moment of silence in honor of the steelworkers who died in the tragic explosion at the Clairton Coke plant .
"I think it's an example of why we need to continue to push and make sure that workers have safe working environments. It's another reason that we need to make sure that we continue to invest in the Pennsylvania Labor and Industry Department in OSHA, to make sure that everyone who goes to work can come home at night," Davis said.
