EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- An El Paso man who has spent more than three decades on death row and was supposed to be executed earlier this year is set to appear before a judge later this month.

David Leonard Wood, now 68, was convicted of killing six girls and young women and burying them in the desert in Northeast El Paso. He was convicted of capital murder in 1992 and has been on death row since 1993.

According to court records, Wood will have a status hearing that will be held virtually at 9 a.m. on Sept. 15.

A Texas appeals court halted his execution just days before he was supposed to die by lethal injection back in March.

According to El Paso Matters, the Sept. 15 hearing will likely outline a schedule for motions and future hearings.
