SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A family is grieving after a teenager was shot and killed in Shreveport’s MLK neighborhood early Sunday morning (Aug. 31).
Cameron Ballentine, 17, was shot multiple times on Bond Drive during the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 31. His sister, Alexis, says he was at a friend’s house when he was shot nine times.
“I talked to that child for 17 and a half years of his life. I have lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, MLK neighborhood for 17 years. It’ll be 18 years in December. And I do not like Shreveport anymore. I’m not happy,” Shannon Ballentine, Cameron’s mother, said.
She says after losing her son, it seems the violence in Shreveport has gotten worse.
“It is not fair to my family and to anybody else in Shreveport that has lost somebody through gun violence.
