ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester-area donut shop says staffing issues that first surfaced earlier this year have only gotten worse, leaving the business facing tough decisions as it heads into its busiest season.
Back in April, WROC reported on the Ridge Donut Cafe’s challenges amid a tight labor market. In a new statement posted Monday, the owners said they remain severely understaffed despite spending thousands of dollars on job postings and advertising in recent months.
“These are the hard truths about having a small business,” the post reads. “Nobody wants to work anymore, and nobody wants to do any type of physical labor. As soon as places started opening back up after Covid, nobody wanted to go back to in-person work.”
