Peoria, Ill. (WMBD) -- Meteorological summer (June through August) ended up warmer and drier than average. While we saw above precipitation in June, and near average precipitation in July, August ended well below average. This left us with a summer-long rainfall deficit if nearly 2 inches. When it came to our temperatures, both June and July were quite warm but August came in a little cooler than average.
Despite the cool end to the season, it was our 22nd warmest summer season on record. If you were to just look at the overnight low temperatures, those came in as the second warmest on record, just a touch cooler than the summer of 2010.
