CHICAGO — Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order Saturday aimed at resisting President Donald Trump’s plan to send federal forces to Chicago in the coming days.

The order, called the Protecting Chicago Initiative, calls on Trump to “stand down from any attempts to deploy the U.S. Armed Forces — including the National Guard — to Chicago” and lays out measures to guide Chicagoans and local law enforcement in the event the federal government does send troops here.

Trump has said he’s considering sending the National Guard to Chicago, drawing the ire of local politicians and mixed reactions from Chicagoans.
