NEW ORLEANS —
For the 28th year, the AFL-CIO held its annual Labor Day picnic.
More than 1,000 workers, representing more than two dozen different union organizations, attended the event in Marconi Meadow. Advertisement
The ALF-CIO invites candidates seeking public office to attend, and in an election year like this one, where all seven city council seats are on the ballot as well as the races for mayor and sheriff, plenty of qualified candidates attended.
Tiger Hammond, the president of the local AFL-CIO, says, "We hope these candidates are for working families, because that's who we represent, working families."
Election Day is Oct. 11.
