SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – With more than three dozen member unions, there are all kinds of workers that are protected by the Lane County Central Labor Chapter. And at their annual Labor Day picnic, union members talked about their current employer battles.

PeaceHealth workers are currently in contract negotiations.

“I've been a hospital worker for 18 years and we're right in the middle of bargaining, so our union is coming together so that we all have a voice and we're all heard,” PeaceHealth worker Alicia Holihan said. “This is for all hospitals that SEIU is representing, Longview, Southwest and Riverbend.”

And the University of Oregon faculty union members are trying to avoid layoffs.

“We are trying to come up with out of the box solutions like furloughs, like work-share and days off,” Moh
