I Fought The Law broadcasts on ITV and the devastating four-part drama recounts the true story of a mother's battle for justice after her daughter's murder.

Julie Hogg was killed by strangulation at the hands of neighbour Billy Dunlop in 1989, with her mother, Ann Ming, finding her body concealed beneath the bath 80 days afterwards.

I Fought The Law features Sheridan Smith as Ann and chronicles her journey as she campaigns to alter an archaic law that prevented criminals from facing trial twice for the same offence.

Within the series, Julie's murderer remains unnamed and the performer portraying him receives no credit in an intentional decision by the programme's creators.
