SAN DIEGO – Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of California filed 102 border-related cases last week, highlighting the ongoing efforts to address a wide range of crimes along the U.S.-Mexico border. The charges include bringing in undocumented immigrants for financial gain, reentering the country after deportation, and importing controlled substances.

Several recent arrests demonstrate the variety of charges filed:

Attempted Reentry After Deportation: On August 27, Mexican national Jose Alfred Vasquez-Garcia was arrested on a boat with other undocumented immigrants. He had been deported just a few months prior.
