NEW YORK (PIX11) – Three people in the tri-state area are waking up with an extra $1 million in their pockets on Tuesday after their tickets matched five numbers pulled during the Powerball drawing.

Two of the tickets were bought in New Jersey, while one was purchased in New York, according to the Powerball website. The numbers from Tuesday night’s drawing were 8, 23, 25, 40 and 53 with a Powerball of 5 and a Power Play multiplier of 3.

The big prize climbed to $1.3 billion after no one hit the jackpot. It’s now the fifth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.

The next Powerball drawing will be held on Wednesday.
