President Donald Trump denied craving a Nobel Peace Prize in an interview conducted on Friday.

The Daily Caller's Reagan Reese had asked the president: "Do you crave the Nobel Peace Prize?"

Trump said: "No. I just want, I want to be treated fairly. But the word crave, and even if I did, I couldn't answer that question, because it would sound terrible. Yes. Suppose I said yes, I craved it. Oh, please. I can't do that."

Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment via email.

Why It Matters

Trump, who has been nominated multiple times, has previously complained about not being awarded the prestigious prize. Past recipients include four former presidents, including Barack Obama . Trump said in June that he would not be awarded the prize "no matter what I do."
