GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) -- Protests advocating for higher wages took place across the country on Labor Day, including a demonstration in Greenville at Unity Park.
The protests, named "Workers Over Billionaires," called for increased pay to keep up with inflation. Demonstrators criticized lawmakers in Washington, D.C., arguing that recent changes in the federal government hurt working-class families.
Participants at the Greenville protest emphasized the need for laws that benefit everyone, not just the wealthy.
"We are as important as the rulers who makes the laws," protester Rosellen Aleguire said. "They should be making them according to how it benefits everyone, not just those who have the most money."
