OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - A Philadelphia man will spend 40 years in prison after being convicted of killing an Upstate woman in 2023.

According to the 10th Circuit Solicitor's Office, David Delgado Jr. pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the 2023 killing of Ahjai Gambrell. A judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison for the murder charge and to five years for a weapons charge. The sentences will be served concurrently and under state law, Delgado will have to serve the full sentence and will not be eligible for parole.

According to the solicitor's office, on May 29, 2023, Delgado murdered Gambrell in her parent's home while her parents were out running errands.
