DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A waterline project at a national seashore will create some temporary traffic delays this week.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore says the Dare County Water Department will be covering a 700-foot section of waterline near the Haulover Sound access Wednesday and Thursday.

This will create intermittent delays on both days, as Highway 12 will close each time a truck needs to offload fill material near the waterline. Each closure is expected to last around five minutes and will happen between every 30 to 60 minutes on both days, according to the national seashore.

The first closure is expected around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, which is when the first truck is set to arrive, according to the national seashore.
