A local teenage boy rescued a girl from the River Tamar after she was left stranded in the water. The girl was heard screaming for help from the river after she came off a jet ski believed to have been sinking into the water.

Joey Huggins, 15, had just come in from a day on his boat with family when they noticed people gathered by the Torpoint waterside where the girl was in distress. Speaking to PlymouthLive, Joey said the girl had been on the jet ski with her boyfriend when they thought it started to sink and both went into the water.

"I just came back from a day out on my boat with my dad and sisters. There were people gathered out on the pontoon, where a girl was screaming," Joey said.
