GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville caretaker has been charged after warrants say she sprayed a disabled child in the eyes with Lysol.

An arrest warrant says Alexandria Cox has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse, assault on a child under 12 and assault on an individual with disability.

Greenville police say the abuse happened Saturday and the warrant says the 43-year-old woman was a caretaker at the Howell Center when it happened. The center provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to its website.

Along with spraying the 11-year-old child in the eyes with Lysol, the warrant says Cox also threw the girl to the ground.

Cox posted a $15,000.00 bond and has her first court appearance set for October 14, according to online court reco
