DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- A 20-year-old man was hurt in a shooting on Labor Day in Decatur -- about six hours before a deadly shooting would take place less than three miles away.
Police Lieutenant Adam Jahraus told WCIA that on Sept. 1, police officers responded to the area of 16th and Lawrence Streets at 5:45 p.m. after the Decatur Police Department received reports that someone had been shot.
When they arrived, officers found a 20-year-old male on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was brought to a nearby hospital, and his injury is believed to be non-life-threatening.
Police also found a used shell casing at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.
