More customers have been walking into the Presque Isle Superette to play Powerball since the multi-state lottery game's jackpot surpassed $1 billion in late August.

Jeff Faulhaber, the Millcreek Township convenience store's owner, said that he usually sells "a couple hundred" Powerball tickets a day. That total has increased by 25% to 30% in recent days.

"You get all the new players, the ones who only play when the amount is really high," Faulhaber said. "You used to see groups of people put their money together and play, but I don't see that as much anymore."

The Sept. 3 drawing will be for an estimated $1.3 billion, the fifth-largest jackpot in the game's history and ninth-largest among any U.S. lottery games .
