COPPERAS COVE, Texas — The City of Copperas Cove provided an update on the internal and criminal investigation into four firefighters who were released from duty in early August.

The City held a press conference at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 in the Fire Station 1 training room. City Manager Ryan Haverlah provided a statement and answered questions relating to the investigations.

Haverlah said he and other employees of the City were informed in early July about allegations against two firefighters initially, though others were later found to be involved. Haverlah said the investigation confirmed illegal possession of drugs and several policy violations. Two firefighters and two Captains were placed on administrative leave as part of the investigation, according to Haverlah.
