A Michigan family practice doctor who allegedly sought to have a sexual relationship with a 5-year-old was arrested following a Florida police department's undercover operation.
Dr. William J. Murdoch was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service for soliciting a parent to consent to the participation of sexual conduct involving a child, Port St. Lucie Police said in a social media post Tuesday.
Police said their investigation began in June when Murdoch began chatting online with an undercover detective who was posing as the child's mother.
Murdoch pursued a platonic relationship with the mom to see if she would allow the fictitious 5-year-old to be courted by and have a sexual relationship with him, police said.
