Today marks the start of the 2025–2026 school year, and students across the city are heading back to class filled with excitement. But amid the back-to-school buzz, safety remains a top priority — and a shared responsibility.

Allison Purcell, the Alberta Motor Association or AMA School Safety Patrol Coordinator, says the Lethbridge Police Service, and the City of Lethbridge partnered this morning at St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary School to help raise awareness and highlight the important role school safety patrols play.

The AMA Safety Patrol Coordinator says next week a safety patrol will start at the new West Coulee Station.
