Springfield, MO - Drivers on the city's southeast side are looking forward to the reopening of a road, months after it was closed for reconstruction.

Crews are currently putting the final touches on the project to rebuild Galloway Street. The stretch, between Lone Pine Ave. and Luster St./Primrose Avenue, will include a brand new wider roadway with three lanes. Drivers will also find the new route to be less hilly after crews moved and leveled the ground along the way.

This week, contractors are putting down the first layers of asphalt. In recent weeks, they've completed other aspects of the project, including curbs, lighting, and a parallel multi-use path. Two roundabouts (one at each end of the stretch) opened earlier this summer.
