BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A wind storm is slamming Kern County and pushing dust up into the air, leading to car crashes, power outages and heightened fears of valley fever.

Winds have been gusting at 40 mph from Tehachapi and coming into Bakersfield at 30 mph since 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

It's a hot wind -- over 100 degrees outside as of Tuesday afternoon -- kicking dust up into the air and causing low visibility in areas around the county.

A crash involving three vehicles occurred off of Banducci Road and Stallion Springs Drive at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. There was blowing dust in the vicinity of the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

PG&E confirmed a power outage in south Bakersfield was also due to the wind storm. Over 3,000 homes and businesses are without power
