LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Senate Bill 857 is among the 800 laws that took effect on September 1 , introducing new regulations impacting drivers across the state.
The bill allows peace officers and authorized inspectors to impound vehicles if the driver is found to be without a valid license, proper insurance or if the driver is a minor without a license.
KGNS interviewed Municipal Judge Jesus “Chuy” Dominguez about the laws and what residents should be aware of to avoid having their cars impounded.
Dominguez advises the people of Laredo to be cautious, especially if they know they cannot obtain a license, as the police have the authority to confiscate their vehicles.
