Online retailer Amazon has introduced a huge change to their payment system at a time Aussies are turning away from credit cards.

Australian Amazon shoppers will now be able to checkout using Afterpay for online purchases.

Afterpay announced the major partnership on Wednesday with the company's Country Manager, Katrina Konstas saying the milestone will empower millions of shoppers.

“As a nation, we love the ease and speed of online shopping,” Ms Konstas said.

“With Afterpay now available at checkout on Amazon Australia, we’re empowering millions of shoppers to access what they want, when they want it, all while maintaining control of their spending.

“We’re thrilled to offer Amazon customers a new way to pay with the convenience and confidence they can trust from Afterpay.”
