MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - During Tuesday night’s meeting, Milton’s town council unanimously decided to increase safety standards for its municipal employees.
The move comes after a WSAZ Investigation into the death of Milton city worker Paul Linville. The investigation found that municipal employees are not covered by state or federal OSHA standards, meaning there is no required training, equipment, or oversight for city workers.
Municipalities can, however, opt into state OSHA coverage, which the Council plans to do at next month’s meeting.
Milton will also host an OSHA training for its workers and others interested in attending on Sept. 30.
